Two medical equipment products from Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) have been selected as the national flagship products. The two products are Robot medical Assistant ITS-Airlangga (RAISA) and Face shields.
The Director of Research and Community Service (DRPM) ITS, Agus Muhamad Hatta, Ph.D., explained that those two products were selected and displayed together with other national flagship products. RAISA Robot assists the medical staff at Airlangga University Hospital (RSUA), while the face shields have been produced for the public for more than 150 thousand with a donation system.
On May 20th, the Research and Innovation Consortium founded by the Ministry of Research and Technology/National Research and Innovation Agency, Indonesia, launched national flagship products, including the two products from ITS, for handling COVID-19. The event was held in concurrence with the commemoration of the national awakening day of Indonesia.
The event was held as an appreciation for researchers and inventors in handling COVID-19. Through this acknowledgment, Hatta hoped that the two products can be followed up with mass production. The mass production is required so that the products are more beneficial for the wider community in Indonesia.
For RAISA Robot, ITS and Airlangga University have agreed that they will produce more robots. The Vice-Rector for Research, Innovation, Collaboration, and Alumni Affairs, Bambang Pramujati, Ph.D., mentioned that the research team has received permission and funding from the Ministry of Research and Technology/National Research and Innovation Agency. All contributions from ITS were dedicated to medical staff as well as the public to fight against this pandemic.
