UNAIR Ranks Third for Most Productive Institution in Health-Medicine

Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) is ranked third as the most productive institution in the field of health and medicine in the 2020 Productive and Quality Intellectual Property Rights Awards by the Ministry of Research and Technology / National Agency for Research and Innovation (Ristek / BRIN).

The award announcement was held on Wednesday afternoon, November 18, 2020, at the Westin Hotel, Jakarta, and streamed online via Zoom and the Kemenristek / BRIN’s YouTube.

90 authors from UNAIR also received individual awards at the event. Three academics won the high-quality productive author award. They are Moh. Yasin, Iman Harymawan, and Anis Eliyana while 87 UNAIR academics won the best article award.

UNAIR Head of Innovation, Journal Development, Publications, and Intellectual Property Rights, Prof. Hery Purnobasuki M.Si., PhD., contacted by telephone, confirmed the achievements. The award event was a routine program by the Ministry of Research and Technology / National Agency for Research and Innovation. For UNAIR, this achievement is considered an improvement, considering that UNAIR has entered the top five for the first time.

“For UNAIR, this [achievement] is a form of responsibility to the community. That we (UNAIR) are not staying quiet despite the COVID-19 pandemic. We continue to innovate, continue to excel, “he said.

The most productive category, said Prof. Hery, was determined through an assessment from the web of the science database by Ristek / BRIN, and track records as well as activity data in the field of research from institutions and academics. The most influential ones, said Prof. Hery, are the innovation and research products from the institutions.

“From the publication side, our research data, it becomes one of the considerations for the assessment. Including several activities related to UNAIR Covid-19, vaccines, “he said.

“So, in short, what does UNAIR produce? What innovative products? ” he added.

Prof. Hery said that UNAIR currently has more than 150 products registered patent rights. It is increasing every year. This year, more than 70 additional products will be patented.

“We can assist academics in obtaining patent rights. We will continue to encourage and do this towards the downstream process of research results. From the lab scale, we will push it to the downstream process, “he said.

For this achievement, Prof. Hery hopes that the climate of achievement will continue to grow in UNAIR and they can inspire other UNAIR academics in the future to make more achievements.

“The most important thing from a study is the usefulness value for the community. When we do it all together, everything can be achieved. Move forward together. Being great, being great together. Hopefully, this vision and that of a smart university can be achieved soon, “he said.
