Dr. Shahnaz Hamid, Head of Academics at LSBF, has been appointed a member of the Board of Experts for HE Higher Education Rankings

With her exceptional leadership and teaching experience at LSBF, and other leading institutions over the last 15 years, she is a highly regarded academic, business consultant and practitioner with expertise in strategic management, human resources management, leadership and organisational development.

In addition, her practical experience across diverse industries also makes her a highly valuable addition to the Board of Experts, as does her pedagogy research.

As a board expert, Dr. Hamid will apply her extensive knowledge in higher education to evaluate universities and institutions worldwide, using specific key performance indicators and criteria. This will allow her to collaborate with a team of accomplished academics who possess significant experience and expertise in pedagogy and quality assurance. In addition, her appointment will enable her to work with HE Higher Education Rankings, leveraging their selection criteria to identify top-tier institutions annually and improve the ranking list.

The HE Higher Education Ranking Project is a scientific, academic and research ranking institution that ranks higher education institutions according to specific criteria, and performance indicators that contribute to improving the operation and performance of higher education institutions.

London School of Business and Finance launches new executive miniLLM in International Business Law

London School of Business and Finance (LSBF) has launched an Executive miniLLM in International Business Law.

The executive short course provides a broad overview of topics that are offered in a traditional LLM, making it an ideal stepping-stone to further law studies for legal practitioners, junior lawyers and working professionals. Certified by LSBF UK, the miniLLM runs for either 14 weeks, including one evening class a week or the option to study for a continuous period of five days at LSBF’s Central London campus.

Shane De Fonseka, Academic Director for LSBF Executive Education, said: “The course covers a wide range of content including an overview of Corporate Governance, International Commercial Litigation and Arbitration, International Trade Law, Intellectual Property Law and an Introduction to International Competition Law.

“Our course is taught by UK-based practising lawyers and lecturers who teach law at some of the most prestigious universities in London.”

The new programme aims to significantly enhance delegates’ knowledge of business law and affiliated fields through an extensive curriculum covering the fundamental aspects of International Business Law.

Introduction to Corporate Governance

This part of the programme looks at the theoretic aspects of corporate governance alongside the development of corporate governance codes and governance in continental Europe. Students in this area can also look at corporate governance in Central and Eastern Europe, Asia Pacific, South Africa, India or Brazil as an alternative to Europe.

Introduction to International Commercial Litigation and Arbitration

International commercial litigation, arbitration, parallel proceedings and Lis pendens are covered in this section of the programme. Additionally, students investigate anti-suit injunctions, recognition and enforcement of judgements under the common law and the effect of repeal of the Lugano Convention.

Introduction of International Trade Law

This area highlights the introduction of trade law and the basic characteristics compared to national and regional trade as well as exploration of international rules and institutions that govern international trade law.

Introduction to Intellectual Property Law

Intellectual property law, the rights it relates to and the introduction to copyright, patents, trademarks and designs are covered in this section. Students are invited to explore the international rules and institutions that govern intellectual law such as WIPO.

Introduction to International Competition Law

This aspect of the course explores the challenges faced by international businesses and the understanding of horizontal and vertical agreements. It highlights the cartel offence in the UK and enforcement powers, as well as the role of the Competition and Markets Authority and antitrust laws in the USA. It is also an introduction to the UK enforcement of the Competition Act 1998/2001 and company director disqualification.

Delegates on the Executive miniLLM will acquire the practical, day-to-day skills required in the legal profession, explore the general frameworks of law and assess their impact on businesses.

LSBF Singapore boosts student engagement with its WeChat account

The London School of Business and Finance in Singapore has announced the launch of its official WeChat account.

With over one billion users worldwide, WeChat is China’s largest multi-purpose messaging app. The account has been launched in response to a high number of enquiries for programmes coming from Chinese students.

The WeChat account will provide its followers with full access to different news affecting LSBF Singapore including updates on its programmes, campus location, partnerships, events and student life. Students will also be able to request and enquire directly for further information.

The app will also allow new and current students to engage directly with educational consultants. To start using the platform, students will simply need to scan a QR code already made available to them by the school.

LSBF Singapore launches School of Technology and new programmes in partnership with the University of East London

The London School of Business and Finance Singapore (LSBF Singapore) announced today the opening of its School of Technology (SOT) which offers a range of programmes for students interested in careers in computer sciences and cybersecurity, in partnership with the University of East London (UEL).

Students will now be offered both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees with two bachelors’ in Computer Science and Cyber Security & Networks and two Masters of Sciences in Computer Science and Information Security & Digital Forensics. Their performance and satisfaction will be monitored to ensure the teaching best fits their academic and personal development needs.

The SOT, headed by Dr Preethi Kesavan, will ensure that all students access positive experiences through active blended learning and are prepared for their future studies, research and employment. Students are invited to choose their type of learning and complete their diploma on campus or online through its completely asynchronous online model.

A range of programmes will be awarded in partnership with the University of East London, a public university whose mission is to provide career-led teaching and prepare students for the reality of the professional world. UEL has several notable academic staff and alumni including politicians, business people, authors, actors and musicians.

The University of East London is a new addition to LSBF Singapore’s international portfolio of leading institutions among Europe and North America which includes, among others, the University of Greenwich, The University of Law and Grenoble Ecole de Management.
