Spasibo! Thank you for coming to QS WORLDWIDE 2018
The 2018 QS WORLDWIDE Conference and Exhibition concluded successfully in Moscow, Russia on Wednesday, 23 May 2018. Taking place at a time of rising confidence in the Russian higher education sector, QS WORLDWIDE highlighted the rapid advance of Russian universities in the various QS rankings. Being the result of important higher education reforms that have taken place during the past decade and concerted efforts by the Russian government, including the “5-100” Russian Academic Excellence Project, Russian universities are now poised to emerge on the global stage.
The 2-day QS WORLDWIDE conference itself saw a number of keynotes, debates, panel discussions and presentations as well as a well-visited exhibition area dubbed the “QS Hub”. Notable keynotes included those by Prof Weifang Min on strategies for building world class universities, and Dr Andrei Volkov who offered sharp insights into the experience of Russian higher education reform since the end of the Soviet Union.
As is a QS (and Russian) tradition, the conference included a lively social program which reached its peak during the welcoming dinner, where delegates were treated to not only an outstanding sampling of Russian cuisine at the Korston Club Hotel, but also 26 highly professional student performances. Hosted by the People’s Friendship University, RUDN University, and organized in collaboration with the “5-100” Russian Academic Excellence Project, the conference was attended by 411 delegates from 137 institutions in 27 different countries.
Building on the success of the 2018 edition, the 2019 QS WORLWIDE is already being planned, with preparations underway for a follow-up conference to be held on 19-20 September 2019 (tentative dates) in Almaty, Kazakhstan in partnership with the Al-Farabi Kazakhstan National University.
