UNAIR Strengthens Collaboration through Taiwan Higher Education Fair

UNIVERSITAS AIRLANGGA NEWS – To commemorate its 65th Anniversary, Universitas Airlangga once again held Taiwan Higher Education Fair (THEF). The event managed by Airlangga Global Engagement (AGE) was opened on Thursday, November 7, 2019, at the Lobby Hall of Campus C Management Office of UNAIR.

UNAIR Rector Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih,  SE., MT., Ak., CMA., welcomed the representatives of Taiwanese universities in Balairua and expressed his gratitude for the event. “Universities in Taiwan have remarkable progress. We hope that the closeness we establish at this event can improve joint research, exchange, and other collaborative relationships, “he said.

Meanwhile, Taiwanese representative, Professor Chen Ying Huei Ph.D in his speech emphasized the benefits obtained by both parties through THEF. “There are more than 5,000 Indonesian students in Taiwan. And, the numbers continue to grow. In fact, Indonesia occupies the top four ranks of most foreign students, “explained the Dean of the International College Asia University.

“From Taiwan, we hope that this event at UNAIR can improve the prestige of our university. We have explored collaboration with fifteen universities in Indonesia. And the thing that we offer besides international collaboration is vocational education which is still needed by several universities in Indonesia, “he explained.

About the collaboration, UNAIR Vice Rector I, Prof. Djoko Santoso, dr., Ph.D., Sp.PD., K-GH., FINASIM stated that the target to achieve Top 500 world-class universities and the opening of five new programs at UNAIR next year illustrates the significance of THEF. “One of the mandates given by the Indonesian government to UNAIR is to realize it through international collaboration. From Taiwan Expo, we invite everyone to open a network, gather information, and establish cultural and student exchanges between countries, ” Prof. Djoko said.

Prof. Djoko emphasized that THEF is a promising event for the future of UNAIR academicians. The comparison of graduates of Taiwan’s from regular program and vocational field which are fifty to fifty are things that UNAIR could learn to establish new programs.

Taiwan Higher Education Fair itself is a part of Airlangga Global Day which will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2019 to Friday, November 8, 2019. Beside Taiwan, several other countries will also exhibit their education process as part of the exchange of information and relations between UNAIR and other partner universities in various countries.
