UNIVERSITAS AIRLANGGA NEWS – Universitas Airlangga continues to make efforts to become a world-class university. One of them is through AMERTA program, which is a program for international students to get opportunities to study at Universitas Airlangga.
To optimize of the program, UNAIR Rector Prof. Moh. Nasih and his staff visited several countries in Europe and the Middle East. One of them is Turkey. Based on data from UNAIR Airlangga Global Engagement (AGE), in Turkey, there are already five institutions agreed to cooperate with UNAIR.
During the visit in Turkey, on Friday, September 20, 2019, Prof. Nasih also visited the Office of Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) Turkey in Istanbul. There was a discussion on potential partnerships in Turkey. Prof. Nasih also conveyed some achievements and progress made by UNAIR.
UNAIR Rector was welcomed by representatives of Indonesian Consulate General in Turkey Herry Sudrajat (Indonesian Consulate General) and Jepri (Social and Cultural Attaché). In the meeting, UNAIR team explained some excellent international programs such as AMERTA, Airlangga Global Scholars, and Airlangga Development Scholarship (ADS).
Indonesian Consulate General Herry Sudrajat responded positively on UNAIR’s ideas and plans in establishing partnerships with Turkey. He also explained that he would help to promote UNAIR in Turkey.
They also discussed the collaboration going on between UNAIR and universities in Turkey. In addition to offering international programs, UNAIR team explained the procedures and stages of admission for student from Turkey, especially those who are going to take the master’s and doctoral degrees at UNAIR.
Some potential partnerships in the fields of tourism, hospitality, tropical diseases, and biodiversity were also offered. The visit to Turkey is expected to further strengthen relations and expand partnerships, especially in an effort to realize progress in the field of education.
“Historically Indonesia and Turkey have a harmonious relationship. Therefore, it will be excellent if this relationship is developed even more, especially in the field of education, “explained the Rector of UNAIR.
In addition to visiting Indonesian Consulate General in Turkey, the UNAIR team will also sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with four universities in Turkey such as Istanbul Technical University, Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakif University, Kırklareli University, and Karabuk University.
The MoU covered the development and strengthening role of Tri Dharma of Higher Education, including education, research, and community service. The MoU established will be active until 2021 and 2024. (*)
