UiTM’s Faculty of Accountancy Wins the Top ACCA Prize Again

Amir Mursyid bin Huzaidi, a Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia student from the Faculty of Accountancy (FACT) has attained the highest score in Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) which was held in August 2020.

He managed to obtain a full score of 100 in the Maintaining Financial Records (FA2) paper. As a result, he was awarded world prize-winner in the world for the FA2 paper by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), United Kingdom; the accounting professional body.

Mursyid was so happy and claimed that he “was utterly grateful for this achievement since it was a recognition from ACCA.  It was a great sweetener for me considering all the time and hard work that was put into my studies”.

This young lad who comes from Rawang, Selangor Darul Ehsan shared that his key to success was practicing good time management and continuous enhancing of exam techniques. His gratitude goes to his parents who have been his major supporter and motivator.

The lecturers also played a major role in guiding him throughout the semester. A major challenge he faced was Online Distance Learning (ODL) due to the COVID-19 pandemic and hence had to put in extra effort to gain more knowledge and was done by focusing on the subject matter.

He realized that he cannot depend only on online classes to understand this subject better. Therefore, he did some revisions before and after each chapter to have an in-depth understanding of what he had learned during ODL. Besides, he also went through questions including past year questions, in addition to reading technical articles and examiner’s reports published by ACCA. He found them very helpful in getting a deep understanding of the topics that were difficult to understand.

In addition, those articles also helped him to understand and be aware of the key issues highlighted by ACCA especially the examiner’s report.

He acknowledged that his journey is still long but he “hopes that with this achievement, it would inspire other fellows students to work hard, be focused on what we do and do it at our very best and hopefully, win more prizes at both national or international level.

UiTM is extremely proud of the student’s achievement and the positive impact it has created both locally and internationally. It is the first public university in Malaysia to receive the ACCA Platinum Award (July 2011) for its professional accountancy tuition program.

The Faculty of Accountancy, UiTM has been one of the foremost leaders in accounting education and provides various academic programs at all levels including Diploma, Bachelor, Master, and Doctor of Philosophy. FACT also provides professional programs like CAT, ACCA, and CIMA (Certified Institute of Management Accountants). It has been a center of excellence for the past 60 years and hopes to maintain it.
