For some people, a leader is someone who can influence others, be it an individual or a group of people. Some also say that a leader is someone who learns from their mistakes and does not stop to learn something new. However, an International Relations student of President University I Komang Triska Ananda Dilivianugraha Priantara shares a different definition of a leader. The young man better known as Nanda among his friends said, “Leadership for me is trust within devotion. A leader is someone who can use their influence to do goods for others and inspire others through their actions and heart.”
According to Nanda, when a leader uses their heart in taking action, the whole universe will support and make way for what they are aiming for. He has been holding on to this principle that has taken him to the surrounding area of his birthplace, Bali and Nusa Tenggara to help the locals to achieve a better life.
For his high attention toward Indonesia and his real contribution as reflected through his leadership, Nanda won Nutrifood Leadership Award 2019. Nanda managed to beat a thousand other applicants from all over Indonesia. Nutrifood itself is one of the biggest companies in Indonesia that is engaged in the healthy food and beverage industry.
Before he got selected as the winner, Nanda along with 21 other finalists were invited to participate in a three days quarantine in Jakarta (15-17 October 2019). Throughout the quarantine, Nanda had the experience to learn, network, and to gain inspiration from nine role models who are actively giving back to the community in various sectors, such as business, government, social start-up, a non-profit organization, and the alumni of #NutriLead.
The man who was previously viral for his achievement in collecting donations to build a bridge in Lambanapu Village, East Sumba, said that he did not expect to win this competition. “From the beginning, I did not set any expectation within this competition, because I only wished to learn and broaden my network to collaborate. This award is just a bonus because our actual contributions to the surrounding are the ones that people are waiting for,” Nanda said.
For his achievement, Nanda was awarded a grant and leadership mentoring session with the CEO of Nutrifood Mardi Wu for a six month period.
