    Thammasat University – Performing Marijuana Research with JSP for Medical Use

    Thammasat University signs the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with JSP Pharmaceutical Manufactory (Thailand) co.,Ltd. MOU was signed by Assoc. Prof. Gasinee Witoonchart, President of Thammasat University, and Ms. JIntana Santipisut, Chairwoman of JSP company. The intention of the MOU is to mutually research and develop study of marijuana and perform marijuana research for a medical use in the future. Board of Committee of Thammasat University and JSP company join the signing ceremony on 15 August 2019 at conference room 702, Administrative building, Faculty of Engineering, Thammasat University, Rangsit campus.

    Assoc. Prof. Gasinee Witoonchart, President of Thammasat University, reveals that the objective of MOU with JSP Company is to mutually research and develop study of marijuana, perform marijuana research for a medical use in the future, and publish the complete research publicly. Hopefully, MOU will encourage a strong cooperation with JSP Company.

    Dr. Sitthichai Dangprasert, CEO of JSP company, states that our company aims to increase profitability by adding value to Thai agricultural products. We focus on health care products that can be sold domestically and internationally. We depend on research work from Faculty of Engineering, Thammasat University in order to find extraction process by using liquid carbon dioxide. Then, we will work with medical sector to manufacture modern drug rather than traditional or herbal medicine. Our company will use local raw material. Farmers grow their products using technology and innovation from the cooperation between private and public sector.

    Furthermore, Thammasat University and JSP Pharmaceutical Manufactory (Thailand) co.,Ltd. also work together to research study of marijuana for medical use, try to grow a cannabis tree in close environment (air-conditioning room), and conduct a training course for personnel and students.
