    PTR Professorship of KNU Produces a Series of Successful Industry-Academic Collaboration

    Kyungpook National University (hereafter KNU) is laying a new foundation for local industrial development through its PTR professorship (Pin-Point Technical Research Professor).

    KNU PTR professorship is a system that helps not only with providing solutions to companies but also supports patents or new technologies generated at the university to be transferred to local businesses. KNU is making efforts to collaborate locally, setting up a KNU association for academic-industry collaboration.

    The KNU PTR professorship is showing distinguished outputs in the start-up company specialized in home furnishing platform was given a business diagnosis by a KNU PTR professor while it was going through difficulties in optical technology development based on MR (mixed reality).

    To resolve the problem, the company is co-developing augmented reality space assimilation technology in cooperation with KNU and as the result, it hosted additional investment from Enlight Ventures LLC last March after it was recognized to be of a 5 billion Korean won value.

    Not only that local start-ups TWOUZ Inc. and TAG Gorp., which received supervision by PTR professors were selected as candidates for irregular track investment negotiations in the program of Daegu Creative Economy Innovation Center last year.

    ‘Daegu Gyeongbuk Start-up Forum’, launched in last May also has KNU PTR professors in its planning process. The‘Daegu Gyeongbuk Start-up Forum’, composed of local start-ups, mentors, investors, start-up supporting authorities, is planning to strengthen the cooperation network of local start-ups and develop investments.
