President University Students Brought Back Home Two Awards from Vetcofest MUN 2019

Three students of President University snatched two awards in the Veteran Conference Festival (Vetcofest) Model United Nations (MUN) 2019 hosted by Universitas Pembangunan Nasional (UPN) Veteran Jakarta in Pondok Labu, Jakarta on 27-28 September 2019.

They were joined with several other students from high schools and higher education institutions across Indonesia in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to discuss the topic of “Situation in Ukraine”, especially relating to the current issue of the annexation of Crimea. Bringing up arguments on the importance of sovereignty within the territorial issue and its implication on the humanitarian issues, the three students made their way to the winner podium. Winning the Best Delegate position is Mohammad Dafiryan Ambardy (International Relations 2018) teamed up with Revin Andhika from Atma Jaya Catholic University while Reynaldo Arya (Law 2018) and Fitra Ariesta W. (International Relations 2018) secured the Most Outstanding Delegate title. Representing the United States of America and the State of Kuwait respectively, the two pairs scored highly through marvelous presence within the council, comprehensive delivery of the substance, and outstanding charisma during the conference.

In addressing a territorial issue that involves the national interest of multiple states, sovereignty, humanitarian aspect, and the legal aspect towards solving this issue, Reynaldo emphasized the universality of the issue. “We do not need to achieve a mere peace, what we need to provide for Ukraine is a sustainable peace,” he said.

This event provides participants a platform to explore their passion for debate and lobbying through simulated diplomatic relations, demonstrating the prominent potential in diplomatic leaderships that the three President University students have in them.
