Following the rise of COVID-19 status as a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO), President University has moved all classes online. Through the Rector Regulation President University Number 8 Year 2020, in-person classes would be conducted online starting from 16 March 2020 until the end of Even Semester 2019/2020 (3 May 2020). The moving affects all subjects learned by approximately 5000 students in 16 undergraduates and 2 graduate programs.
The regulation was made to enforce the ‘social distancing’ that is being encouraged by the state and health authorities. “With all academic activities carried out online, we want to limit interaction and prevent the spread of COVID-19,” said Prof. Dr. Jony Oktavian Haryanto, the Rector of President University.
In the Rector Regulation, students are encouraged to return to their homes and conduct online classes from their own homes. Jony also reminded students to take care of their health while enjoying their e-learning activities at home.
All non-academic student activities are also postponed, including the university’s annual sports competition, Sports Olympiad of President University (SOPU).
Through the university’s official social media account, President University mentioned that their top priority is everyone’s health. Therefore, the university will closely monitor the current conditions and make a decision based on public health guidance from authoritative sources. The university also has taken several precautions actions that will regularly be updated through the email university’s official website, and social media.
