    President University held the 8th Annual Conference on President Model United Nations

    In an effort to realizing a safe and sustainable future globally, it is important to address current security affairs to find the most feasible solutions that are in line with the existing international cooperation and agreements within the United Nations (UN). This has become the underlying focus of the eight President Model United Nations (PresMUN), that was hosted by President University Model United Nations (PUMUN) Club on 18-21 September 2019 at Antero Hotel by Prasanthi, Cikarang.

    Raising the grand theme of “Understanding Security Challenges in the Modern Age upon Sustainable Future,” PresMUN 2019 held six councils throughout the four days conference. Experts including academicians, government officials, international organizations officers, and journalist spoke during the discussion panels at the end of the conference in each council. The event was attended by Lecturer of International Relation Study Program IGB Dharma Agastia, BA.IR., M.Sc., Lecturer of Communications Study Program M. Raudy Gathmyr, S.Sos., M.Si,  Advisor for Communication and Information for UNESCO Office in Jakarta Dr. Ming Kuok LIM, Ph.D, Head of Sub-Directorate for the Application of Energy Conservation Technology, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Edi Sartono, Head of Other Climate Change Funding Sub-Sector, Ministry of Finance Noor Syaifudin, SE, SST, Ak., MM, MPP, Ph.D, Youth Advisor of United Nations Population Fund, Regional Leader Girl Up Isabella Veronica Silalahi, B.A & Bus, M.A., Network Coordinator for the Pro-Women’s National Legislation Program Ratna Batara Munti, M.Si, and Senior Journalist of Jakarta Post Novan Iman Santosa, ST, M.Si.

    Since its first establishment in 2012, PresMUN has managed to keep the trend for gathering the MUN devotees nationally and internationally. PresMUN as one of the best MUN Conferences in Indonesia has received eager anticipation from both National and International delegates with a total of more than 50 delegates including delegates from Bangladesh and Thailand.

    “We are concerned about the heated conflicts that have captured the world attention such as terrorism, Eastern Ukraine conflict, Kashmir conflict, trade war, and conflicts between countries in the economy, security, and socio-cultural. This theme aims to increase awareness of the conflicts that exist in the international world and therefore we know the procedures for overcoming them,” said Fitra, one of the committees from the Communication Division of PresMUN 2019.

    Further, the committees sincerely hope PresMUN 2019 will not only provide an opportunity for delegates to enhance and deepen their practical skills but also leave unforgettable memories through its social activities as well as its renowned hospitality.
