Established at the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, the Innovation Space hub has won a silver Highly Commended award at the 2026 Reuters Events Global Sustainability Awards in the Social Impact category.
Kyiv Polytechnic, the OBRIO product IT company, and the Genesis for Ukraine Charity Foundation launched the joint project in May 2025.
At present, it is an ecosystem that includes engineering education, science and practical technological developments. It runs 3D printing, modelling, design and scanning laboratories, as well as accelerates the development of start-ups and new certification programmes.
Since the hub's inception, more than 100 war veterans, students and researchers have been engaged in its activities; over 70 prototypes developed; and 25 orthoses designed for the veterans.
Congratulations to the Innovation Space team on international recognition. This accolade provides further evidence that the engineering expertise of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, leveraged through collaboration with partners, is translated into effective technological solutions — individual prosthetic and rehabilitation aids tailor-made for amputees.
