Former U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon visited HUFS on September 19, 2017, to deliver a special lecture entitled ‘UN and Global Leadership for the 21st Century.’
Mr. Ban stressed the importance of knowledge and wisdom during the lecture, sharing his experiences at the helm of the UN and explaining the role of a leader. In particular, he noted, “A leader should use power for members, not wielding it, and should care for others.”
Regarding the recent developments on the Korean Peninsula, he added, “It is important to ease the tension on the Peninsula. Korean people should show unity in the face of the recent events.”
Around 300 HUFS faculty members and students attended his special lecture. The lecture was followed by a Q&A session, during which Mr. Ban engaged students with lively discussion.
