Faculty of Business and Management (FBM) Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia recently got accreditation for the Bachelor of Event Management (Hons) Program by Asia Pacific Institute for Events Management (APIEM) as an International Centre of Excellence (Four Stars) for the Event Management Academic Program.
Prof David Hind, Adjunct Professor, at FBM highlighted that The Bachelor of Event Management (Hons) degree was the 1st to be offered in South East Asia since 2006.
He further added, “this degree program has a well-established reputation and possesses the largest alumni network in South East Asia.” Besides, many alumni are holding senior positions within the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) industry in Malaysia and are very loyal to their alma mater”.
This recognition is in line with UiTM’s continuous improvement efforts to offer competitive and marketable programs for the graduates both at national and international level. This kind of accreditation speaks well to raise the ranking status of universities, faculties and academic programs, thus facilitating opportunities for further cooperation with APIEM partners in the Asia Pacific region.
Being in partnership with APIEM also means UiTM can get advice and monitoring services regarding teaching and learning as well as curriculum continuity with industry needs. For the improvement of knowledge on the global direction of the event management industry, all stakeholders can attend courses organized by APIEM.
The application process which started as early as February 2018 finally received its official conferment on 3 September 2020. The undivided commitment by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Norol Hamiza Zamzuri and her team members, Madam Norhidayah Mohd Rashid, Miss Nor Azzura Nordin as well as the strong support and trust given by the former dean of FBM, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siti Halijjah Shariff made this accreditation, a pleasant reality, and a great success to FBM and the Bachelor of Event Management Program.
This recognition now opens a new chapter for the Bachelor of Event Management (Hons) Program FBM, to continue to grow in line with the aspirations of our national education and organization.
