The Outstanding Science Teacher Award is an honorary recognition of science teachers whose outstanding work has benefited the nation’s young generation and Thai education as a whole. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suchana Chavanich is the first Thai female scientist to conduct Antarctic research on the effects of climate change on organisms and the environment. She is also one of the Thai scientists who successfully developed techniques to mass culture corals, using sexual propagation, to restore the coral reefs in Thailand.
Besides teaching at the Department of Marine Science, Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suchana also serves as a special lecturer, special guest speaker, academic consultant, and author of academic articles on marine conservation. She has received multiple prestigious accolades for her work in marine ecological research and conservation of marine natural resources.
