Bridging Innovation to Industry at FKK UiTM

SHAH ALAM, MALAYSIA (17 APRIL 2026) – In response to global shifts towards innovation-driven economies, the Faculty of Chemical Engineering (FKK), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), hosted the BITCOM Visit 2026: FKK Research Product Scouting and Commercialization at the Oval Meeting Room, FKK.

The programme accelerated the transition of research outputs from laboratory validation to industry application, while strengthening the institution’s technology transfer and intellectual property management.

A delegation from BITCOM UiTM, comprising experts in commercialisation and IP strategy, delivered knowledge-sharing sessions on commercialisation pathways and technology licensing. These engagements provided researchers with practical guidance on advancing their innovations beyond academic outputs.

A key highlight event was the product scouting session, featuring four shortlisted innovations at Technology Readiness Level 4, namely AntioxEnrich Kantan, CLE BioFilm, QRA GPS Software Tool, and PELLEZOP: Smart Pellets for Sustainable Dye Elimination. These technologies demonstrated strong commercialisation potential across diverse engineering domains.

The BITCOM panel highlighted that the innovations are technically sound and market relevant, with the next step focusing on identifying suitable funding mechanisms and commercialisation routes. This initiative reflects UiTM’s commitment to strengthening industry collaboration, enhancing research impact, and aligning with global expectations for innovation-driven universities.
