Inha Holds 2026 Engineering Festival

Inha University recently held the ‘2026 Inha Engineering Festival,’ an event designed to showcase students’ engineering design achievements and promote exchange with industry.

Launched in 2013 and now in its 14th year, the Inha Engineering Festival is an annual event that helps students develop creativity and practical skills through engineering competitions and exhibitions of project outcomes.

This year’s festival was jointly hosted by the Inha Center for Innovation in Engineering Education, the Anchor Project Headquarters, and the College of Engineering, under the slogan ‘Next-IN,’ which represents connecting the university with Incheon and industry. In particular, the participation of offshore wind-related companies gave students an opportunity to learn about technologies and trends in the industrial field.

The opening ceremony was attended by President Choi Keeyoung, National Assembly member Lee Hoonki, Kim Wooseung, President of the Accreditation Board for Engineering Education in Korea, Yu Taeseung, CEO of Ørsted Korea, Lee Tack, President of Inha University Hospital, Kim Jongwoo, President of the Inha Alumni Association, Son Chungyeol, Honorary Vice President of the World Wind Energy Association, and Yoon Jonghwan, CEO of Windlake. Inha’s cheerleading squad ASSESS and the Korea Coast Guard Band performed celebratory performances. A business agreement signing ceremony between Inha University, Ørsted Korea, and Windlake was also held, along with a scholarship award ceremony hosted by Ørsted Korea.

A total of 26 prototypes were submitted to the Inha Comprehensive Design Competition, where students showcase their design achievements. Through prototypes they conceived and built themselves, students demonstrated their engineering problem-solving abilities and creative ideas.

The achievement exhibition featured booths from the general category of the Comprehensive Design Competition and posters from the semiconductor category, as well as award-winning projects from the first semester of the Multi-Year Research Project, winners of the Inha Idea Competition and Inha Portfolio Competition, and selected works from the Inha Architecture Exhibition.

Corporate booths were operated by Ørsted Korea, Hanwha Ocean, Taihan Cable & Solution, APASS, Newvoltec, and HydroQuest, as well as Alchemy&D Med, Ogma, and Pistis, companies participating in Inha University Hospital’s Open Lab program. The Korea Industrial Technology Association’s STEM Talent Matching Center and the Incheon Intellectual Property Center of the Incheon Chamber of Commerce and Industry also participated.

From the university, the Secondary Battery Project Group, Secondary Battery Specialized University Project Group, IPP Dual Joint Training Center, Startup Support Foundation, and Bio-specialized University Project Group took part and interacted with students.

Career and employment support programs were also offered. These included a recruitment briefing for new employees at Hanwha Ocean; résumé and interview workshops and career mentoring by the Korea Industrial Technology Association’s STEM Talent Matching Center; a meeting and information session hosted by the Secondary Battery Project Group; special interdisciplinary lectures; and a presentation of award-winning projects from extracurricular programs organized by the Inha Center for Innovation in Engineering Education. Participants also toured corporate and student booths and exhibitions and took part in additional activities such as a stamp tour.

Pyeon Seokjun, Director of the Inha Center for Innovation in Engineering Education and professor in the Department of Energy Resources Engineering, said, “With the participation of offshore wind-related companies and local organizations, students were able to learn about technologies and trends in the industrial field and gain a clearer understanding of their career paths.” He added, “We will strengthen cooperation with the local community and industry to help students develop practical skills and grow together with the region.”

President Choi Keeyoung said, “This year’s Inha Engineering Festival was an opportunity to see the creative ideas and technological capabilities of our students and to discuss directions for cultivating future engineering talent together with the university, local community, and industry.” He added, “We will continue to support students so that they can actively engage with industry and develop their spirit of challenge and creativity.”
