JENGKA, 5 March 2026 – Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Pahang Branch continues to strengthen its commitment to community empowerment through the Sesuci Kasih Ramadan Sebening Syawal (SKRSS) 2026 programme, benefiting 30 underprivileged (asnaf) families in the Bandar Pusat Jengka area.
Organised by the Jawatankuasa Khidmat Komuniti (Community Service Committee) of the School of Technology Management, Faculty of Business and Management, the initiative reflects UiTM’s ongoing efforts to bridge the gap between higher education institutions and local communities through knowledge sharing, economic empowerment, and social support.
Now in its 17th year, SKRSS 2026 was conducted under the OM Qalbiyyah Outreach initiative with the theme “Blessed Ramadan: Serving with Compassion, Empowering the Community.” The programme demonstrates how universities can contribute meaningfully to sustainable community development by combining charitable assistance with capacity-building activities.
A distinctive feature of this year’s programme was the continued engagement with beneficiaries who had participated in previous editions of SKRSS. This approach highlights UiTM’s commitment to fostering long-term community relationships and creating sustainable impact rather than providing one-off assistance.
To enhance participants’ economic resilience, the programme included a practical training session on digital entrepreneurship entitled “Online Business Management Techniques – Shopee Platform.” Conducted by faculty experts, the session introduced participants to the fundamentals of e-commerce, digital business management, and strategies for leveraging online marketplaces to generate additional income opportunities.
Recognising that community well-being extends beyond economic empowerment, participants also attended a Ramadan motivational session focusing on spiritual enrichment, personal development, and the values of resilience, gratitude, and social responsibility.
In addition to the educational components, participating families received Kotak Raya packages containing essential household items as well as 10-kilogram packs of rice to support their preparations for the upcoming Syawal celebration.
The programme was officiated by the Rector of UiTM Pahang Branch, Prof. Ts. Dr. Azhan Hashim, who reaffirmed the university’s commitment to creating positive social impact through community engagement initiatives that address both immediate needs and long-term development goals.
The SKRSS programme supports several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). Through the integration of social assistance and knowledge transfer, the initiative exemplifies the role of higher education institutions in empowering communities and fostering inclusive growth.
As UiTM Pahang continues to expand its University Social Responsibility (USR) initiatives, programmes such as SKRSS serve as a platform for nurturing volunteerism, strengthening university-community partnerships, and ensuring that the benefits of knowledge and innovation reach those who need them most.
