Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) has increased its presence at the international level through research collaborations with the universities worldwide. This time a memorandum of agreement (MOA) on international research matching grant between UiTM Kedah with Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University (SSRU), Thailand was on November 12, 2019, at SSRU, Bangkok, Thailand. The signing ceremony was witnessed by the representative of the Vice-Chancellor of UiTM, Associate Professor Dr Shaiful Annuar Khalid, Rector of UiTM Kedah and President of SSRU, Associate Professor Dr Luedech Girdwichai.
A total of six research projects were stamped, three each from each institution. The projects in the field of social sciences mainly covered the area of management, logistics and supply chain management. The main objective of this joint research is to stimulate ground-breaking and collaborative research for the benefit of both Thailand and Malaysian researchers.
Among the expected output from the collaborative research is the publication in Web of Science (WOS) or SCOPUS indexed journal. Researchers from both universities are encouraged to increase the research endeavours by producing more journal publications from the research projects.
Subsequent to the MOU signing ceremony, researchers from both universities had set the stage by networking and collaborations in the 2019 Joint International Conference UiTM-SSRU. The conference provided a platform for participants to share and discuss the current issues as well as establish international joint research collaborations between the two universities.
