    UiTM Malaysia won second place at Pixi awards for its curated ads campaign book

    SINGAPORE – Recognizing Creative and Innovative Works in Digital Printing, Fuji Xerox Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd. finally announced the 43 winners of the 2019 PIXI (Printing Innovation with Xerox Imaging) Awards Competition on January 20, 2020.  In its 12th year, this annual competition honors the most outstanding and innovative digitally-printed pieces from across the Asia Pacific region with entries coming from Australia, China (including Hong Kong and Taiwan), Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

    A total of 248 entries contended for the 24 award categories and UiTM Curated Ads Campaign Book entitled The Essential Guide to Reconnect Your World clinched 2nd Place Winner in the Education Sector.

    The UiTM Curated Ads Campaign features TVC, Print Ads Series and a Guide Book that introduces “RECONNECT” as an overarching theme expounding on BUDI as a value in life that binds the elements of Family and People, Nature and Habitat, Spirituality and Peace, Good Health and Well-Being, as well as Unity and Harmony.  The Ads Campaign highlights the role of UiTM nurturing BUDI in education which eventually reconnects people with the universe.

    According to Professor Dr Roziah Mohd Janor, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Insitute of Quality and Knowledge Advancement (InQKA), the institute spearheaded the project while UiTM GESTURZ curated it. The project exemplified the true meaning of cooperation because it involved various departments, individuals and organisations namely the Faculty of Art & Design, Academy of Language Studies, Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, Sports Centre, Library, Tuanku Mizan Mosque, UiTM alumni, Eco World, Berita Harian, New Straits Times, Bernama and Astro Awani. The Ads Campaign has proven that SYNERGY is the key to driving UiTM in achieving global success.

    “The use of the Xerox Color C60 showcased the amazing flexibility and power to do more in book production as it enhances the quality of the digitally printed artworks. The result is stunning every time which is a true delight and stand-out from others, artistically and creatively”, says Mel Rasidi, Senior Curator of UiTM GESTURZ who headed the UiTM Ads Campaign team.

    In the same competition, UiTM won 2nd Place in the Art Reproduction category submitted by Ms Noriza Arzain, Senior Lecturer, Department of Art Foundation Studies. While the third award went to Umairah Shahirah Nasarudin, a Printing Technology student under the guidance of Muhammad Yusuf Masod, Senior Lecturer and Mohamad Azuan Azmi, Print-Technical Officer from the Art & Design faculty, UiTM Puncak Alam, Selangor Branch.

    A media statement by Fuji Xerox Asia Pacific Pte Ltd claimed that, “the winning applications will be showcased in Fuji Xerox Communication Service in Tokyo, Japan and at the regional Graphic Communication industry events.  For an opportunity to receive further recognition, Fuji Xerox Asia Pacific submits all entries into the Asian Print Awards; a competition for printers in the region.”~gesturz.
