The unemployment rate in Indonesia is still considerably high. This fact has led the Ministry of State Owned Enterprises, Ministry of Education and Culture, and Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration to initiate a certified internship program. Through this program, they hope students will be ready to work directly after graduating from university. One of the company run this program is PT. Pindad.
PT. Pindad is an Indonesian state-owned enterprise company specializing in military and commercial products. Pindad provides the armaments and munitions for the Indonesian National Armed Forces and other agencies mainly to support defense and security of the Republic of Indonesia.
PT. Pindad signed an agreement with President University on May 6, 2019. Signed at Pindad Office Bandung, the agreement mentioned that President University students have the opportunity to join a certified internship program at PT. Pindad. The agreement was signed by Prof. Dr. Jony Oktavian Haryanto, Rector of President University and Wildan Arief, Chief Finance and Administration Officer of PT. Pindad. Present at this event, President University students who joined the certified internship program and Dr. Eng. Lydia Anggraini, S.T., M.Eng., Head of Mechanical Engineering Study Program. The students are Zairullah Azhar and Gusti Armando Ginting from Mechanical Engineering batch 2016.
Handa S. Abidin, S.H., LL.M., Ph.D., Vice Rector for Communication and Partnership President University said, “We are happy to welcome the opportunity that PT. Pindad gives to our students. It is a pleasure to have our students do the internship at an honorable company like PT. Pindad. In line with what Mr. Wildan has said, internship is an important program for students to prepare themselves to work. Hopefully, our students can perform well and be a full-time employee at PT. Pindad. We also hope that we will continue this cooperation in the following years.”
In addition, PT. Pindad only provides 25 slots for the certified internship program to students from 4 universities which are President University, Gadjah Mada University, Bandung State Polytechnic, and Bandung Polytechnic of Manufacturing.
