MDS UiTM 2025 Testament FKK Remains Top Choice

The Faculty of Chemical Engineering (FKK), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Shah Alam, successfully organized the Minggu Destini Siswa (MDS), serving as an essential orientation platform for new students of the 2025/2026 academic session. This year, a total of 377 new students registered under the Faculty of Chemical Engineering, reflecting strong interest and confidence in the discipline — a clear sign that Chemical Engineering remains a trusted and preferred choice for the future. The MDS program is a flagship UiTM initiative aimed at introducing students to the university’s vision, mission, values, and the unique UiTM DNA. At the faculty level, it provides a comprehensive overview of academic structures, student development opportunities, and support systems available to ensure student success throughout their studies.

The session began with a Faculty Introduction Briefing delivered by the Dean of FKK, Associate Professor Ir. Dr. Azil Bahari Alias, who emphasized the importance of cultivating academic discipline, professional ethics, and leadership qualities from the very start of university life. He also encouraged students to participate actively in research, student associations, and professional development programs offered by the faculty. Following that, Dr. Miradatul Najwa binti Muhd Rodhi, Deputy Dean of Student Affairs (HEP), shared an insightful briefing highlighting the role of HEP in supporting student welfare, leadership, and holistic well-being. She introduced various initiatives under HEP such as the Gerobok Rezeki (student food aid program), student leadership training, and entrepreneurship opportunities. She also reminded students of the importance of maintaining discipline, good character, and professional conduct as part of UiTM’s core values.

One of the most inspiring sessions was the Learning Techniques and Time Management Talk, delivered by Tuan Saiful Azhar, Chairman of the UiTM Alumni Federation (PAU) and President of the Chemical Engineering Alumni Association. As an accomplished alumnus and former UiTM Student Representative Council leader, he shared motivational advice on self-management, time prioritization, and maintaining a balanced lifestyle between academic and personal growth. His session encouraged students to be disciplined, resilient, and forward-thinking in navigating university life.Students also attended a Mental Health and Well-Being Session by En. Rosdi Ali, Counselor from the Centre for Psychology and Counseling, who emphasized emotional resilience, stress management, and the importance of seeking guidance when needed. In addition, Puan Norhayati Talib, MASMED Entrepreneurship Coordinator, conducted a Student Entrepreneurship Briefing to introduce opportunities in innovation, pitching competitions, and student-run business ventures supported by MASMED UiTM. The program also featured a Library Briefing by Puan Norhamimi binti Othman, Head Librarian/Deputy Chief Librarian of PTAR Engineering, who explained the procedures for book borrowing, online resources, and library facilities available for engineering students.

Another engaging activity under this year’s MDS was Engine on Tour by Faculty Student’s Secretariat (SMF), where students were given a guided exploration around the Faculty of Chemical Engineering. The tour aimed to help new students familiarize themselves with key locations such as lecture halls, laboratories, and staff offices — ensuring a smoother transition into academic life.

Overall, the MDS 2025 at the Faculty of Chemical Engineering successfully introduced new students to the academic, leadership, and entrepreneurial ecosystem of UiTM. With the impressive intake of 377 new students, the program reaffirmed that the Faculty of Chemical Engineering continues to be trusted and chosen as one of the best pathways for a bright and sustainable future.
