According to the latest Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Graduate Employability Rankings, five institutions from mainland China have been ranked among the world’s top 50 universities for graduate employability. The score of each institution was compiled based on (1) alumni outcome (2) employer-student connections (3) employer reputation (4) partnerships with employers (5) graduate employment rate.
Listed in the 10th place is China’s Tsinghua University, the best performer in South Asia, followed by Japan’s University of Tokyo (14th) and the University of Hong Kong (20th). Other four Chinese universities that also made it to the list include Peking University (23rd), Fudan (27th), Zhejiang University (38th) and Shanghai Jiaotong University (46th).
A total 37 Chinese universities were ranked among the world’s top 500 – five from mainland China, six from Taiwan and six from Hong Kong; thereby illustrating its capacity in providing competent, dynamic graduates to the global and national markets. Moving forward, it will be great for Chinese universities to start working more closely with global employers in the areas of research development, employability and entrepreneurship. By doing so, it aids in further heightening the global competitiveness of students and cultivate more future leaders.
In all, the latest update of the QS Graduate Employability Rankings distinctly demonstrated China’s extensive effort and investment towards high education and elevation of international collaboration.
