    ACADEMY OF LANGUAGE STUDIES, UITM KEDAH BRANCH CAMPUS, MALAYSIA AND LANGUAGE CENTRE, UNIVERSITI BRUNEI DARUSSALAM WORKING TOWARDS BETTER GLOBAL VISIBILITY

    Academy of Language Studies, UiTM Kedah Branch Campus, Malaysia and Language Centre, Universiti Brunei Darussalam successfully organised several programmes which could propel both universities to gain better international visibility. These programmes which were International Academic Colloquium (IAC), International Innovation and Creativity Exhibition (IICE) as well International Language Camps (ILC) for English and Malay languages were held at Universiti of Brunei Darussalam from 11 February 2020 until 13 February 2020. IAC had a total of 15 scholarly papers presented.  Meanwhile, IICE managed to get thirty participation from the fields of Language and Linguistics, Product Design, Graphic Design and Open Category.  The winners for each category received Diamond, Gold, Silver and Bronze awards. Another event, ILC, had more than 80 UBD students enjoying themselves with the Malay and English language camp activities. Besides these three events, both universities also had two meetings to work towards a Memorandum of Agreement and a joint international conference and innovation competition (i-InTeLEC 2021)) which will take place next year from 17-18 March 2021 in Langkawi Island, Malaysia. All these programmes and meetings were the initiatives taken under the APB Kedah – LC UBD Internationalisation Project held from 10 February until 15 February 2020. APB Kedah was represented by three lecturers who acted as the main committee members  – Puan Syazliyati Ibrahim, the liaison personnel between both universities and also the Vice President of the project,  Cik Fathiyah Ahmad @Ahmad Jali, the Head of Language Centre and Puan Sharina Saad, the President of this internationalisation agenda. Together with them were five other English language lecturers, Puan Robekhah Harun, Puan Zetty Harisha Harun, Puan Nur HIdyati Zolhani, Puan Bawani Selvaraj and Cik Syakirah Mohammed who held major roles in all the events organised. Language Centre, Universiti Brunei Darussalam was represented by Puan Hajah Suciyati binti Sulaiman, the liaison personnel between both universities and also LC’s Deputy Director, Dr. Sarah Boye, also the liaison personnel, Dr. Yabit Alas, LC’s Director, Puan DK Liyana Putri and Dr. Ishamina Athirah Muntassir Gardiner. These internalisation agenda are hoped to benefit all lecturers serving both centres in terms of research, paper publication, staff and student mobility and even community projects.  All these criteria are of great importance to both universities and can facilitate the lecturers and students to have a more global focus in their efforts.
