KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA (31 MARCH 2026) – To remain competitive in a rapidly evolving global market, engineering education must extend beyond the four walls of a lecture hall. This week, 60 Bachelor of Oil and Gas Engineering (Hons) students from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), coordinated by the SPE UiTM Student Chapter (SPE UiTM SC), are participating in the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) Asia 2026 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
A Front-Row Seat to Innovation
The visit provides students with a first-hand look at the technological revolution currently redefining the offshore sector. Beyond the machinery, the event serves as a massive networking platform. Students are engaging directly with seasoned professionals from global energy leaders, gaining a better understanding of the technical competencies and "soft skills" required to thrive in the modern energy landscape. These meaningful interactions provide valuable insights into diverse career journeys and the resilience needed to succeed as future engineers.
Witnessing the Digital and Sustainable Shift
The cohort is exploring several key "Future Tech" domains, including digitalization, AI, and decarbonization solutions.
"OTC 2026 has been an enriching experience that broadened our perspective on the industry," noted a student representative from SPE UiTM SC. "Witnessing these advancements in sustainability and digitalization firsthand has not only enhanced our understanding but also inspired us to continuously improve ourselves as future leaders."
A Commitment to Graduate Employability
This initiative highlights UiTM's dedication to Graduate Employability. By ensuring students are well-versed in emerging trends and innovations, SPE UiTM SC continues to produce engineers who are "industry-ready" for the global challenges of tomorrow.
