UniMAP Donates Mobile Sanitizing Tunnels to the Police Force and Hospital

Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) has recently donated Mobile Sanitising Tunnels to Perlis (Malaysia) Contingent Police Headquarters and KPJ Penang Specialist Hospital to help police and medical frontliners curb the spread of COVID-19.  The tunnel, a brainchild of two UniMAP researchers Erdy Sulino Mohd Muslim Tan and Mat Nor Mohammad Ismail, is able to kill viruses or bacteria lingering on clothes people wear.

The tunnel is able to produce a droplet at the size of 10 to 15 microns, automatically spraying alcohol-free sanitizing liquid when people walk through it. The tunnel is practical as it comes in the form of a mobile tent which is portable and is easily set-up on high-risk sites required by the authorities.

UniMAP Vice-Chancellor Prof Ir Ts Dr R Badlishah Ahmad said the donations are made in the realization of the risks the frontliners are exposed to while on the job. “As a technical public university, it is our responsibility to give back to the community as best as we can, based on our expertise. This is but a small contribution from us to help our frontliners who have been working hard in addressing COVID19”.
