UNAIR Summer Program Attracts Delegates from Various Countries

UNIVERSITAS AIRLANGGA NEWS – Summer Program managed by Airlangga Global Engagement (AGE) Universitas Airlangga has attracted a lot of interest from international students. It was seen from the annual summit of academics from various universities throughout Asia Pacific in Japan.

At the QS APPLE summit in Fukuoka, held on November 25-28, 2019, various international collaborations were discussed with delegations from universities across the Asia Pacific. One of them was from Dongguk University, South Korea. They were interested in involving their students in the summer program at Universitas Airlangga.

“I got a lot of information from UNAIR booth. We hope that students at Dongguk University can visit because Indonesia is a potential developing country, “said Sungmook Lim, Ph.D from Dongguk University.

Lim expressed his interest in some programs offered by Universitas Airlangga. He hoped that his students can take part in the summer program at UNAIR and gain a lot of knowledge about academics and culture in Indonesia, especially in Surabaya as the second biggest city in Indonesia.

At UNAIR booth, some visitors could get information about several international programs, including AMERTA (Academic Mobility Exchange for Undergraduate at Airlangga); Summer Program consisting of Indiair, Airventure, Inherit, Surabali, Ceria; Airlangga Development Scholarship; and Airlangga Global Scholarship.

The programs have their own specific characteristics, so the international students do not only follow the academic activities at UNAIR, but also get to know Indonesian culture, take part in community service, and get to know the social and cultural life of people in Indonesia. Furthermore, in some programs, students will be invited to a field trip and visit tourist destinations in Indonesia.

Some programs also offer international students to learn Indonesian and they are funded by UNAIR. The participants also get allowance from the university.

For three days in Fukuoka, UNAIR delegation not only join an exhibition. They have made appointments with other universities participating in the event. The meetings are expected to explore potential collaborations and increase the academic peer lists of UNAIR . (*)
