UiTM’s Electrical Engineering and Crescent Institute, India Jointly Publish on Semiconductor Materials

Faculty of Electrical Engineering (FEE), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia have collaborated with B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology (Crescent) India to successfully produce joint publications on semiconductor materials.

Assoc. Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Mohamad Hafiz Mamat from NANO-Electronic Centre (NET) of FEE and his research collaborator Professor Dr I.B. Shameem Banu, Crescent Institute   managed to publish several high impact journals and indexed publications on the topic of electronic materials from the research conducted in India in 2018 and 2019. The collaboration journey started when Dr. Mohamad Hafiz Mamat was awarded the ASEAN-India Research Training Fellowship in 2018 and did his research attachment with Crescent, Institute for from August 2018 to January 2019.

There were fourteen publications from this collaboration. The most recent publication, “Solvents driven structural, morphological, optical and dielectric properties of lead-free perovskite CH3NH3SnCl3 for optoelectronic applications: Experimental and DFT study” was published in Materials Research Express of Institute of Physics (IOP) in January 2020. The paper discusses the structural and optical properties of perovskite materials prepared in different solvents. Full article can be accessed via https://iopscience.iop.org/article/10.1088/2053-1591/ab6a47

The second paper “Structural, optical, and electrical evolution of sol–gel-immersion grown nickel oxide nanosheet array films on aluminum doping” was published in the Journal of Materials Science: Materials in Electronics (Springer) (April 2019). This article presents new findings on properties of aluminum-doped nickel oxide nanostructure prepared using the solution immersion method. Full article can be accessed via https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10854-019-01330-z.

Another article entitled “Structural modification of ZnO nanorod array through Fe-doping: Ramification on UV and humidity sensing properties” was published in the Nano-Structures and Nano-Objects (Elsevier) (April 2019). The paper discusses the performance of the UV and humidity sensors based on iron-doped zinc oxide nanorod arrays. Full article can be accessed via:https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2352507X18305225?via%3Dihub

The collaborative research between the two institutions also successfully published the fourth paper entitled “Direct and seedless growth of Nickel Oxide nanosheet architectures on ITO using a novel solution immersion method” in Materials Letters (Elsevier)(February 2019). The paper presents results on producing nickel oxide nanosheet array film using a new technique and the film application for ethanol sensing. Full article can be accessed via     https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0167577X18317439?via%3Dihub.
