Assoc. Prof. Dr Mohamad Fahmi Hussin from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia recently secured a Graduate Marketability Grant from the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia. Dr. Fahmi and his team members, Prof Ir Dr Ahmad Asari Sulaiman and Assoc.Prof. Ir Dr Huzaimy Jusah were awarded the grant valued at RM218,750.00 on 10th August 2020.
The grant will be used to increase employability of UiTM students through competency certification in terms of Rigging, Lifting, Derrick Inspection, NDT inspection and Safety Operations, which is certified by the International Rope Access Trade Association (IRATA).
As there is a growing demand for these competent based skills in many industries, Dr Fahmi and his team will be working to train UiTM students in a local company, Globe Tech Services Sdn Bhd., a company which specializes in professional engineering and support services to oil and gas, marine and offshore companies.
Students who join the training program will be offered a job from other engineering companies such as KOV Industries Sdn. Bhd., Segitiga Emas Management Sdn. Bhd. and other related companies.
