UiTM Lecturer Voted as One of the “100 Most Inspirational LinkedIn Icons in Malaysia You Should Follow in 2020”

Associate Professor Dr Roslina Ab Wahid of Arshad Ayub Graduate Business School (AAGBS), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) has been voted as one of the 100 Most Inspirational LinkedIn Icons in Malaysia You Should Follow in 2020 by Marketing in Asia on 1st May 2020.

Marketing in Asia is the marketing magazine in Asia with substantial readers made up of regional PR agencies representing global brands across Malaysia and neighboring ASEAN countries.

The recognition was based on several criteria; the regular efforts made, the inspiring posts done, the engagement level obtained as well as the number of followers Dr Roslina has on LinkedIn. LinkedIn is a valuable social media resource platform for career and business professionals to network; obtain resources and support; and build relationships with potential customers, clients, and partners.

According to Dr Roslina, through her active participation on LinkedIn, she has been able to network with other people locally and abroad. Some of the positive outcomes from her networking on the platform include the signing of the memorandum of understanding (MOU) with one international university with the possibility of future collaboration on student/staff mobility and exchange, and research and publication; free visit and talk by the international university visiting scholar at AAGBS; and exposure of her professional work and research project on auditor education and competency which currently are being used by certification bodies in Australia and New Zealand as part of their training modules for audit managers. These initiatives by Dr Roslina are all efforts in line with UiTM’s internationalization agenda.

In the local scene, networking through LinkedIn has greatly aided Dr Roslina in the setting up of a Quality Community of Malaysia (QCM). QCM is a not-for-profit platform to promote quality in the country by providing leadership on the awareness and adoption of the quality management principles and best practices through knowledge sharing and volunteering to foster a culture of quality and improvement in Malaysia.

This platform is open to people in quality including the practitioners, academics, researchers, consultants, and trainers of quality. Currently, after six months of being created, QCM has more than 150 registered members and 308 followers. Being recognized on LinkedIn has enabled Dr Roslina to positively influence and engage people and other professionals to become members of QCM. This is good exposure for both the AAGBS and UiTM in the local and international arena. Undeniably, by being recognized as one of the 100 Most Inspirational LinkedIn Icons in Malaysia You Should Follow in 2020, Dr Roslina has brought AAGBS and UiTM to the eyes of the world.

In terms of publications, Dr Roslina has published several journal articles in the field of quality management. Her latest publication in a Q1 Journal entitled “Sustaining ISO 9001-based QMS in higher education: a reality?” describes how a large public university sustains its ISO 9001 quality management system (QMS) as well as provides a snapshot on the problems and challenges faced and interventions carried out by the university in its quality journey. Dr Roslina also wrote a chapter in a book entitled “The chicken or the egg? On the interplay between culture and quality management systems” in collaboration with a professor from Massey University, New Zealand. The book was published by Routledge on January 2020.
