    UiTM Electrical Students’ Charity Run for Syrian Refugees

    Faculty of Electrical Engineering students from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Universiti Teknologi MARA, (UiTM), Shah Alam, Malaysia recently organized a charity programme called, Hope 1.0 : Winter Mission for Syria. The event which took place on 23rd November 2019 was supported by Cinta Syria Malaysia, IEEE Communication Society Malaysian Chapter, IEEE Power & Energy Society Malaysian Chapter and Kolej Teratai, UiTM Shah Alam.

    The Hope 1.0 Charity Run 2019 saw over 240 enthusiastic runners assemble for the early morning flag-off for the 5 km challenging path within the university campus. The proceeds of the run were channeled to a non-governmental organization (NGO) called Cinta Syria Malaysia, which provides funding for the Syrian refugees throughout the world.

    The highlight of the program was a forum entitled “Crying in Syria, Where are we?” that was held later in the evening. The panelists of the forum were the founder of Cinta Syria Malaysia, Musa Nuwayri and Malaysia’s popular artist, Aizat Amdan while the moderator was Aqib Fawwaz, a student representative council. The programme was officiated by the Dean of Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Juliana binti Johari.
