UiTM Electrical Engineering signs MOU with TJSB for Human Capital Development

The Center for Electrical Power Engineering Studies (CEPES) of Universiti Teknologi MARA’s (UiTM) Faculty of Electrical Engineering signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Teknik Janakuasa Sdn Bhd (TJSB), earlier this year. TJSB a wholly-owned subsidiary of Malakoff is currently Malaysia’s leading Independent Power Producer (IPP), specialising in providing operation & maintenance services for the power system.

With the MOU, both partners hope to look forward to more collaborations on research, innovation, industrial training and other academic activities. The MOU was signed between the Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, UiTM, Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Mohd Nasir Taib and Senior Vice President (Operation & Project Management Services) Malakoff, En. Azhari Sulaiman, at the Faculty of Engineering, UiTM,

UiTM is a public university that collaborates with key industry players, with the main aim to provide students a more holistic academic training so that they can produce graduates who are highly skilled. TJSB is a member of the MMC Group and its main line of business includes the generation, transmission, and/or distribution of electrical energy.

The collaboration will encourage the academia and industry to increase research activities and share their expertise and subsequently contribute to the development of human capital. Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Mohd Nasir said that, “the partnership between UiTM and TJSB will encourage the exchange of information, expertise and experience towards enhancing professional development.” He also highlighted that “the area of collaboration should not be limited to research related to power generation industry, but also include training and exchange programmes between TJSB and CEPES.”
