    UiTM Electrical Engineering collaborates with MGTCCC on climate change goals

    The Centre for Electrical Power Engineering Studies (CEPES), Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Malaysia Green Technology & Climate Change Centre (MGTCCC) to signify the start of a joint collaboration on implementing and promoting energy management activities over a period of 5 years. The event was held in conjunction with the 10th International Greentech & Eco Products Exhibition & Conference Malaysia IGEM 2019 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center (KLCC) om 11th October 2019.

    With the MOU, both partners hope to look forward to more collaborations on research, innovation, training and other academic activities. The MoU was signed  by the Dean of Faculty of Electrical Engineering,  Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Juliana Johari, and the Acting Chief Executive Officer/ Chief Operating Officer of MGTCCC, Tuan Syed Ahmad bin Syed Mustafa, and witnessed by Professor Dato’ Ir. Dr. A. Bakar Jaafar, Chairman Board of Directors MGTCCC.

    Malaysia has committed to reduce the emissions intensity by 35 per cent in 2030 as specified in its Intended Nationally Determined Contribution (INDC) under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). One of the effective strategies to achieve the target is by having an efficient energy management system in buildings and implementation of green technology. Therefore, the collaboration between UiTM and MGTCCC will be the first step towards meeting the climate change goals set by the government of Malaysia.
