The National University of Uzbekistan jointly organized Uzbekistan-Malaysia International Online Conference with the Faculty of Computer and Mathematical Sciences (FSKM), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia, V.I. Romanovskiy Institute of Mathematics Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences, Navoi State Pedagogical Institute, and Samarkand Branch of Tashkent University of Information Technologies.
The conference with the theme Computational Models and Technologies (CMT2020), was held online on 24 & 25 August 2020. The conference was a great success with 345 participants from more than ten countries including Republic of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Indonesia, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, China, Iraq, Jordan, Pakistan and the United States of America.
Prof. Dr. Shirinova Raima Khakimovna, the Vice-Rector for International Relations of the National University of Uzbekistan, initiated the opening remark, followed by Prof. Dr. Haryani Haron from (UiTM) Malaysia.
Prof. Dr. Haryani Haron highlighted that collaboration with the National University of Uzbekistan will leverage UiTM’s position more actively in widening its global visibility in providing access to higher education.
She was also very optimistic that “the joint-collaboration will continue to promote academic initiatives such as research and innovation activities, supervision for student-projects, as well as joint publications in high impact journals”.
This joint conference aims to be the foundation for the establishment of international research relations between the two nations especially the educational institutions.
The Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the International Conference, Assoc. Prof., Dr. M. Khudoyberganov, from the National University of Uzbekistan, highlighted that further development in scientific research can be obtained through the theoretical and practical solutions presented in the online conference.
He also added how “scientific research and researchers’ participation in international relations and cooperation could contribute to the acquisition of modern scientific achievements and experience exchange”.
Various experts and researchers who work in diverse fields participated in the CMT2020, expressed their views, and spoke on different topics. The topics discussed were related to Computational Mathematics, Computing Technology, Information Security and Engineering Technology, Computational Algebra and Theory of Functions, Applied Mathematics and Statistics, and Mathematical Modelling.
The prominent keynote speakers from Malaysia and Uzbekistan were Prof. Dr. Daud Mohamad and Prof. Dr. A.S. Rasulov. While Prof. Dr. Daud Mohamad spoke on how Fuzzy decisions can be made with missing information, Prof. Dr. A.S. Rasulov elaborated on the numerical method, particularly Monte Carlo methods for pricing weather derivatives.
