    UiTM Administrative Science and Policy Studies Faculty collaborates with Institutions from UK, Indonesia and Japan in IcoPS and ITec 2019

    The 7th International Conference on Public Policy and Social Sciences and 2nd International Invention, Innovation Technological Competition (ICoPS & ITeC 2019) was organized by Faculty of Administrative Science and Policy Studies (FSPPP), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) recently. Six other collaborative partners namely Nottingham Trent University, Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), National Yogjakarta University (NYU), Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST), Universitas Subang (UNSUB) and Institute Diplomacy and Foreign Relation (IFDR) actively participated in this event.
    This biennial international conference is a platform for academia, industry leaders, school students and policy makers to share and discuss latest findings, studies, ideas, innovation and invention. The advisor of this two-day program was Prof. Dr. Jasmine Ahmad while the chair for ICoPS was Dr.Memiyanty Abdul Rahim and chair for ITeC was Dr. Azizan Zainuddin. The conference received a high number of international participants with 25 per cent for ICoPS and 45 per cent for masterclass.

    The conference adopted a timely theme, “Embracing Neo-Technology through the Lens of Social Sciences”, emphasizing the role of technology and innovation in reshaping society to fulfill the needs of the foreseeable future and Industrial Revolution 5.0.

    The event was officiated by YBhg. Prof. Dato.’ Dr. Muhammad Fauzi bin Mohd Zain, a representative from the Ministry of Education, Malaysia. “The increasing attention given to how technologies can support, influence societal values is evidence of a shifting global consciousness towards a more constructive view of technology, its complexity and its impact on daily life that we must be part of ” said Dato’ Dr.Muhammad Fauzi in his keynote speech.

    Keynote speakers in ICoPS & ITeC 2019 were Prof. Dato.’ Dr. Muhammad Fauzi bin Mohd Zain, from the Ministry of Education and Prof. Dr. Shungo Kawamishi, President of JAIST. Participants from Malaysia, Indonesia and Nigeria submitted a total of 72 research papers and 46 innovation projects. Participants of ICoPS 2019 were grouped into 4 sub-themes namely, Public Administration and Policy Studies, Education and Sociology, International Relations and Corporate Administration while ITeC projects were categorized into 3, namely public and academic; school students and university students.

    The Dean of FSPPP, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdul Jalil Mohamed Ali said, “It is envisaged that the intellectual discourse of ICoPS & ITeC 2019 will result in future collaborations between universities, research institutions and industry both locally and internationally.”
