    Thammasat University with the Myanmar Institute of Banking offering the study of Master of Business Administration Program in Global Business Management (GEMBA)

    Faculty of Commerce and Accountancy, Thammasat University, with the Myanmar Institute of Banking (MIB) has agreed to the academic cooperation to improve the potential of Myanmar executives who work in the Republic of the Union of Myanmar through the study of Master of Business Administration Program in Global Business Management (GEMBA).

    Associate Professor Kesinee Withoonchart, Rector of Thammasat University, Associate Professor Dr. Phipop Udon, Dean of Faculty of Commerce and Accountancy, Dr. Thaung Han, Director of the Myanmar Institute of Banking and Mr. Aung Kyaw Myo, Secretary of Bank of Myanmar Association were the signatories in the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).  Mr. Myint Thaung, Minister of Planning and Finance, the Yangon Region Government, Mr. Narong Boonsatheanwong, Chargé d’ Affaires of the Royal Thai Embassy, Yangon, and Mr. Than Zaw, Vice Chairman of the Myanmar Banks Association were the honorary witnesses in the signing of the MOU on Sunday 4th November 2561 at Ballroom, Sule Shangri-La Hotel, Yangon.

    Associate Professor Kesinee Withoonchart, Rector of Thammasat University said, “We believe that graduate study will be an important mechanism to prepare the executives to upgrade their expertises and specialized skills as well as open up views and attitudes in expanding their business into a global scale.  The GEMBA Project has a teaching model that will broaden the experience and create new ideas by focusing on teaching and learning through case studies and sharing real experiences among executives from the leading global companies.”

    Associate Professor Dr. Phipop Udon, Dean of Faculty of Commerce and Accountancy, said, “The important purpose of this cooperation is to open an opportunity for the business sector and the education of Myanmar to access the internationally-accredited international studies of the Faculty of Commerce and Accountancy.  This program will increase the potential of corporate management and create competitive opportunities for a thriving business in the country including create a chain of network among the business people from around the world.”

    Dr. Thaung Han, Director of the Myanmar Institute of Banking added that “The signing of today’s Memorandum of Understanding is a confirmation of the commitment to promote and support the people of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar by collaborating with the Faculty of Commerce and Accountancy at Thammasat University.  It is an important milestone in the history of the Myanmar business community to have the opportunity to take the GEMBA course, the only Triple Crown certified in Thailand.”

    Dr. Surapit Promsit, Executive Director of GEMBA, further provided the application details on the application process and requirements.  A US$9,000 scholarship will be given to those applicants joining the GEMBA/MIB if they meet the following requirements:

    • Applicants are required to complete a bachelor’s degree in any field and have at least 3 years working experience.
    • English test results are required based on the criteria set by the GEMBA program and must pass the interview.
    • Applicants must write a Statement of Purpose that demonstrated their intentions and dedications to study in the GEMBA program and how they will utilize their business and social knowledge to develop the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in the future.
