    Thammasat University unites with CP group encouraging student internship in China

    Thammasat University and Charoen Pokphand Group, CP Group, motivate students from 4 majors to get real internship experience in international world in China. The TU’s fourth-year students reveal that it was a great experience in learning about business thoroughly.

     Bangkok 19 July 2019 – Thammasat University held the first Grooming Next-Generation Leaders : University – Industry Partnership / Thammasat University –  Charoen Pokphand Group Defining the Future : in the 21st Century Generation at the Faculty of Liberal Arts, Thammasat University, Tha Prachan center.

    Assoc. Prof. Gasinee Witoonchart, President of Thammasat University, reveals that TU has vision for our 85th Anniversary to be university for the future. Our main goal is Grooming Next-Generation Leaders for Thailand and International Communities. We cooperate with the private sector to produce the new generation of graduates who are qualified, skilled, and experienced in their work for the 21st century.

    Therefore, Thammasat University launches a program to enhance students’ skills by working with Charoen Pokphand Group. We encourage students from 4 Faculties to do an internship in China, which are Engineering, Liberal Arts, Business, and Science and Technology. It was a great success as students can apply their knowledge in a practical working situation in an international community in the future.

    In terms of Liberal Arts Faculty, Charoen Pokphand Group supports an internship program in Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) for 20 years. Students get a chance to do an internship at Zhanjiang DENI Vehicle Parts Co.,Ltd. in Zhanjiang city with Engineering students in 2017-2018. In 2019, students do an internship at Luoyang Northern EK Chor Motorcycle Co.,Ltd. in Luoyang city.

    “Thammasat University aims to produce GREATS graduates who have entrepreneurial skills, language skills and be international. We would like to thank Charoen Pokphand Group for this support and currently there are more than 30 students in an internship program. ”

    Mr. Thanakorn Seriburi, Vice Chairman of Charoen Pokphand Group or CP Group states that CP Group is a Thai enterprise that has been supporting educational sector by giving students a chance to do an internship in CP Group companies. CP Group operates business domestically and internationally in over 21 countries. It consists of 8 core businesses that operate in agribusiness and food, retail and distribution, telecommunication, e-commerce and digital business, real estate investment, automotive industry, Pharmaceutical business, and banking and financial business. Besides, CP Group is transforming itself for 4.0 era and act as a platform for students to do an internship and get real experience to be ready for the upcoming change.

    CP Group has been sending TU student to China for an internship for three times. CP Group is the first foreign company that has invested in China. Currently, the company operates various kinds of businesses, including agriculture, automotive business, real estate, retail and distribution and financial investment. As China is an Asia’s economic leader and has a rapid economic development, it is a suitable place for Thai students to go and learn. The students will get both work experience and language skills and learn about Chinese society and culture and its innovative technology.

    The first two generations of students do their internship in Zhanjiang city, located in Guangdong province, Southern part of China. Zhangjiang is well known for its agriculture, fishing and commerce. Students will do their internship in a manufacture automobiles part and equipment factory. The third generations of students do their internship in CP Group business subsidiaries in Luoyang city, Henan province. Luoyang is well known for its tourism sector. More than 120 million tourists travel in Luoyang each year and it is the center of China’s industry and commerce. CP has its retail business which are Superbrand mall that has more than 1 million sq.ft., motorcycle manufacturing factory, Dayang Motor and food business.

    Students will do their internship in motorcycle manufacturing factory and hopefully they will get a high benefit from this internship in China.

     Ms. JIttraporn Chanpan, a fourth-year student from Faculty of Science and Technology got a chance to do an internship at Luoyang Northern EK Chor Motorcycle Co.,Ltd. for one month. She shares her experience that she is interested in the development of China so she registered for internship program. She says that it was a great experience that she has seen the real working system in China. At first, she went to experience and saw the production section of each factory. Later, she chose to train in three sector which are marketing, research, and production developing and management.

    “This internship program is like a learning stage that we can freely cultivate skills under senior’s support. We get real experience in all branches of work including manufacturing, assembling parts, and exporting product. We have exchanged knowledge and learned more about Chinese culture and society. It was a priceless experience for the next generation of students.”
