Thammasat University joins forces with SkillLane to offer 100% online Master’s degree courses, delivering future skills

Thammasat University (TU) and SkillLane, Thailands no.1 online learning platform and digital training platform, signed a memorandum of agreement (MOU)to deliver online Masters Degree courses, equipping students with essential knowledge and skills needed in the digital age. List of available courses will be announced in May.

This collaboration will allow Thais to access modern education even though they are not TU’s on-campus students. These masters courses will be 100% online, enabling students to learn anywhere anytime at their own convenience. Learners can choose to enhance their knowledge and skills or collect credits for a master degree. Such credits will remain valid for 8-10 years.

Associate Professor Kesinee Withoonchart, Rector of Thammasat University, said, “As the world is changing faster than ever before, TU is committed to leverage learning innovations to help develop Thailand’s education amid new challenges and opportunities. We will use technology to distribute the knowledge from TU lecturers and industry experts to the Thai people on a broader scale.”

“The cooperation will narrow the gap in education accessibility, helping learners to overcome some obstacles regarding their age, health, time, financial status and location,” she added.

Associate Professor Dr. Chalie Charoenlarpnopparut, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Thammasat University, said, “We have adopted learner-first approach for developing a curriculum. We try to figure out what knowledge is needed by most learners in today’s working world, and then we develop materials with the help of qualified lecturers and experts. Most subjects focus on practical skills that will be useful in working environment. Moreover, we try to equip learners with critical thinking and analysis skills instead of memorizing contents.”

Mr. Titipong Pisitwuttinan, CEO and Co-founder of SkillLane, said, “Our team at SkillLane is very proud to work with TU in providing innovative approaches for Thailand’s higher education. We believe these online Master’s Degree courses will significantly contribute to the development of education in Thailand.”

“According to SkillLane’s survey, many Thais think that knowledge and skills they obtained from universities several years ago have become outdated or insufficient in today’s professional landscape. Therefore, they want to continue studying for a Master’s degree, but it is not possible for them to attend full-time courses while working.

The collaboration between TU and SkillLane will allow these professionals to expand their knowledge and to obtain essential skills for the digital age through online courses that accessible anytime at their convenience while they can continue their career,” Mr. Titipong added.
