    Tarlac Agricultural University Faculty Speaks in Green Agro-industry Conference in Indonesia

    To revitalize the instruction and research partnership between the Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU-Philippines) and Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Yogyakarta (UPNVY-Indonesia), Dr. Jerome D. Soriano, Assistant Director of the Office of Auxiliary Services and a faculty member of the College of Business and Management, was invited to serve as a plenary speaker in the 4th International Conference on Green Agro-Industry (ICGAI) at the Grand Inna Malioboro, Yogkarta, Indonesia on October 22-23, 2019.

    Anchored on the theme “Sustainable Agro-Industry in the Era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0,” the research event hosted by the Faculty of Agriculture of UPNVY every two years, sought to promote the advancement and further development of the agro-industry in the new industrial metamorphosis.

    The conference covered five major topics: Soil and Water Management; Crop and Crop Management; Agricultural Engineering; Environment; and Economics, Social and Business.

    Dr. Soriano was assigned as the plenary speaker in Economics, Social, and Business area. He talked about the readiness of the Philippine industries for the Fourth Industrial Revolution, more specifically the challenges and responses of the services and agricultural sectors of the country. According to him, “It was a fulfilling experience to share the country’s efforts and initiatives to combat the challenges of the new industrial metamorphosis.”

    During the conference, the Dean of the Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY), listening to his plenary speech, became interested and requested Dr. Soriano to also come to UMY and share his lecture to the students which was also carried on the next day.
