Students of Information System of President University Secure the First Position in an ERP Competition

Alvin Renald, Christian Immanuel Kurniawan, Nathan Hamidy, Parama Artha, and Raka Prakoso, students of Information System batch 2018, have secured the first position in the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) with the topic “March Madness” that was organized by MonsoonSIM, a business simulation educational game platform that has been used by many lecturers and students around the world. Held on 7-28 March 2020, the President University team that called themselves “Semen” team was tasked to run a virtual company every week and compete against dozens of other teams.

“Initially, we did not take this competition too seriously because we had participated in a similar competition organized by Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, but we gave it our best regardless. Surprisingly, we won the competition and of course, we are beyond happy for that,” said Christian.

Continuing his story, Christian explained that this competition was held every Friday at 7 PM. Because the competition was held online and the access code could only be retrieved two hours prior, it took more than skills and business operation knowledge to prepare. The team had to also ensure that their internet connection was strong and stable to avoid getting late in logging into the platform and join the competition properly.

Christian also explained, “Because the competition is held every once in a week, we have spare time to train on the remaining days. During our training, we were also coached by our lecturer, Genta Sahuri, M.Sc. who has been there since the establishment of this team.”

Looking at this achievement, Christian encourages other students to not only participate in university events but also learn and gain experience from external events such as participating in a competition like he and his team did.
