Strengthening collaboration, UNAIR and Murdoch University involve more faculties

UNIVERSITAS AIRLANGGA NEWS – Collaboration of education at global level is intensified by Universitas Airlangga. One of them is by strengthening cooperation with foreign universities. On Tuesday, January 14, 2020, UNAIR received a visit from a university from Western Australia, College of Science, Health, Engineering, and Education – Murdoch University.

The visit was received directly by Vice Rector I, Prof. Dr. Ni Nyoman Tri Puspaningsih, M.Si., in Meeting Room B, 3rd Floor, Management Office Campus C UNAIR. On the occasion, both parties held a limited meeting aimed at renewing cooperation, particularly with Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH) UNAIR.

In the meeting, UNAIR Director of Academic Affairs, Prof. Bambang Sektiari Lukiswanto, drh., DEA; representatives from several faculties; and related fields attended the meeting while Murdoch University represented by Dean of Engagement, Professor Vicky Vass; along with her three colleagues, Ms. Jackie Taylor, Mr. Nick Psanoundakis, and Ms. Jacqueline Dyer.

“Actually, this collaboration between UNAIR and Murdoch University has been going on for almost five years. But it is only limited to our lecturers who study there. Now, we continue to discuss cooperation which was delayed and at the same time carry out the finalization of the double degree program, “said Prof. Nyoman

Previously, the most prominent collaboration was with FKH, but now the scope of collaboration is expanded by involving several other faculties, such as Faculty of Nursing (FKp), Faculty of Fisheries and Marine (FPK), Faculty of Medicine (FK), Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), and the Postgraduate School, especially the Forensic Science Masters’ Degree Program.

“Besides, they are also interested in and appreciate the community service activity at UNAIR. It includes inter-professional education activities which are community services and development integrated and associated with partner universities. For example, for the floating hospital that we have, ” she explained.

The involvement of other faculties at UNAIR will later be adjusted to several programs which will become the objectives, such as in the field of health sector, the field of food sciences, the field of forensics, the marine pollution field, the field of animal sciences, and the environmental field. It may also involve the social and humanity faculties.

“Because education at Murdoch University has been integrated well. With this collaboration, programs such as the double degree, exchange program and research will be realized. So UNAIR can improve academic reputation while realizing tri dharma. UNAIR can be widely known and expand the network of partnerships, “concluded Prof. Nyoman (*)
