In the 2019 Mondial du Pain-World Bread Contest, Ming-xu Zhang, Dean of Academic Affairs and Chair of the Taiwan Bread Ambassador Association served as the team leader and NKUHT Baking Technology and Management alumnus and World Bread Champion Peng-jie Wang served as advisor, guiding contestant Dong-yun Yu and his assistant Yu-chen Xu. They competed with teams from 16 countries, including China, Japan, Italy, and France. The team won the silver medal and a special award for European bread. Taiwan has been the most-awarded team over the past few years.
