gain, International Relations students of President University, M. Rendy Utomo Rachim made a great achievement in the UT MARA Open 2019 on 6-8 December 2019. In this debate competition with a British parliamentary system, Rendy teamed up with Balqis Siregar, a student of the University of Indonesia. Rendy’s team was the only team from Indonesia that made it to the final round in the Novice Category and snatched a silver medal.
UT MARA Open 2019 was an open debate competition held by the Universiti Teknologi Mara Shah Alam Malaysia and participated by approximately 60 teams from various countries, including Indonesia, Malaysia, Japan, Hong Kong, and many more.
In the final round, Rendy and Balqis competed in a debate that carried a motion “This House Believes that Minority Group should Actively Support Cultural Appropriation as Means of Preserving Their Culture”.
In addition to getting the second place, Rendy was also the 25th Best Novice Speaker in the competition.
