President University Represents Indonesia in International Competition

President University students will represent Indonesia in International Humanitarian Law (IHL) Role Play Competition which will be held by the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) in Malaysia.

This achievement was accomplished after President University team succeeded to bring home the Best Award title in the role-play category of the 2019 IHL Debate and Role Play Competition at Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jawa Timur (UPNVJT) on 30 June 2019. As the champion of role-play category, President University team will bring the name of Indonesia in a similar competition in Malaysia.

Not only winning the Best Award, President University team also won the Jean Pictet Award and Honorable Mention. In this opportunity, President University was represented by I Putu Bagus Dimas Pranata (IR 2018), Ni Putu Andini Siddi Pratiwi (IR 2017), and Muhammad Rendy Utomo Rachim (IR 2015).

This competition was organized by the delegation of regional ICRC for Indonesia and Timor-Leste in collaboration with the Department of International Relations and the UPNVJT IR Student Association. Inspired by the increasing rate of multi-dimensional warfare and tensions, this year competition raised the theme of “Bring Back the Confidence in the Changing Nature of Warfare”. In this competition, the students are not only required to have the knowledge of IHL through debate but also to have the ability to implement the theories through role play.

“This competition is very fun and challenging. Everything achieved in this competition is the result of hard work, dedication, and teamwork,” said Dimas, a member of the President University team.

Beside President University, this prestigious competition was attended by 11 other universities, namely Universitas Jember, Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jawa Timur, Universitas Katolik Maranatha (Bandung), Universitas Gadjah Mada (Yogyakarta), Universitas Al-Azhar (Jakarta), Universitas Brawijaya (Malang), Universitas Darussalam (Gontor), Universitas Teknologi Yogyakarta, UIN Sunan Ampel (Surabaya), and Akademi Angkatan Laut (Surabaya).
