On July 29, 2019 the first graduates of the joint educational master’s program “Europe and Asia: Cultural Diplomacy and Geopolitics of the EU” were awarded with diplomas of Kliment Ohridski Sofia University (Bulgaria). The program was started in the 2017-2018 academic year after the signing of an Additional Agreement to the Memorandum of Understanding on a bilateral master’s program between Kliment Ohridski Sofia University (Bulgaria) and Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (Republic of Kazakhstan) by July 20, 2017. The training included lectures, seminars, master classes, summer schools, diplomatic school, internships, etc. Continuing to strengthen cooperation between the partner countries, from 17 to 23 May 2019 the Sofia University delegation visited Al-Farabi KazNU. The key point of the visit of the Bulgarian guests was the defense of master’s theses of the first issue of the joint double-diploma educational program “Europe and Asia: cultural diplomacy and geopolitics of the EU”. In addition to the opportunity to study at two universities and diplomas by Sofia University and Al-Farabi KazNU, this program is also unique in that it opens up to its graduates twice more opportunities to realize their professional potential. The program “Europe and Asia: cultural diplomacy and geopolitics of the EU” combines the study of cultural aspects of peoples and the political basis for the development of international relations. Graduates of the joint program have skills related to not only cultural diplomacy, but also communication skills necessary for mediation in a multicultural environment and in specialized regional problems of cultural relations between the European Union and Central Asia.
