Preparing national leadership through statepersonship learning

As the era of Industrial Revolution 4.0 emerged, Indonesia has been faced with many opportunities and challenges. The advancements in technology offer many benefits, one of which is easier and broader access to information and the market. On the other hand, the effects of the revolution may backfire those who cannot adapt to the changes. In these circumstances, it is important for Indonesia to prepare its people for the changes. This preparation is needed especially by young generations as the future leaders of the nation. The most feasible method to prepare the young generation is through education that also instills the values of a great leader.

This was conveyed by Colonel Tek Hikmat Zakky Almubaroq, S.Pd., M.Si., from National Resilience Institute of the Republic of Indonesia. Colonel Zakky was invited to be a speaker in “General Lecture and Release of Statepersonship Program PKM Students Batch 2018” on June 19, 2019.

In his lecture, he mentioned that Indonesia ranked 45th out of 140 countries in the Global Competitiveness Report 2018. The Industrial Revolution 4.0. can be used as an opportunity to climb up if the young generation is prepared. However, despite its rich human and natural resources, many of its people do not have access to a proper education that is needed to adapt to the current circumstances. It can be seen from the study conducted by Central Connecticut State University in 2016 that shows that Indonesia is the 60th out of 61 in the World’s Most Literate Nations. This means Indonesia has a huge potential that needs to be addressed.

“Knowing our potential, we have to utilize it well and wisely in order to develop our potential to be leaders that are needed in the era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0,” Colonel Zakky said.

This general lecture that was held at President University Convention Center is a part of Statepersonship Program. This program is President University’s breakthrough on the study of the four compulsory subjects, namely Pancasila, Citizenship, Indonesian, and Religion through academic activities. Through this program, the students are expected to have Entre-Professional Leadership Spirit gained through community service. This will then prepare the students to face the Industrial Revolution 4.0 and lead this nation in the future.
