    Panjab University failed to excel in the QS Asia University Rankings 2018

    In comparison to some of its counterparts in India, Panjab University (PU) failed to excel in the latest QS Asia University Rankings. Instead, the university fell in ranking and is positioned at 31st among Indian universities.

    The ranking of PU was based on the following four criteria: academic reputation, faculty staff with phD, papers per faculty and citations per paper.

    PU scored 21.4 in academic reputation and 51.1 for Faculty staff with phD in comparison to IIT Bombay, which has attained the highest scores among Indian institutions at 88.1 and 96.3 respectively.

    The university also failed to fare well in the area of papers per faculty, receiving only 30.4 points and citations per paper with the lowest score of 33.8.

    Addressing the outcome of the results, Director of internal quality assurance cell (IQAC), Panjab University, M Rajivlochan, pointed out the need to have schemes to attract foreign students, and to work on the area of research and citations.
