    MoU Signed to Strengthen Cooperation in Tourism

    On November 25, 2020, Akhmetov Berik Bakytzhanovich, Acting President of the Caspian University of Technology and Engineering named after Sh. Yessenov, and Mahmud Zharimbetov, Director of the Rixos Water World Aktau Hotel, have signed a memorandum of cooperation.

    The purpose of the memorandum is to develop cooperation through the training of highly qualified personnel in the field of tourism and hospitality, the creation of a personnel reserve, exchange of experiences, including the organization of lectures, seminars, trainings and other forms of interaction.

    During the meeting, Mr. Mahmoud, Director of Rixos Water World Aktau Hotel, shared his plans, “It is planned to build several tourist facilities in the warm beach area, from the Rixos Water World Aktau Hotel to the canal to serve domestic and foreign tourists. The name of this large complex is Tethys Tourism International Hub, with a total area of ​​1,300,000 m2.”

    “The first object of the above hub is the family resort hotel Rixos Water World Aktau, which occupies 15 hectares. The next facility is the largest theme park in Asia with an area of ​​12.2 hectares, followed by hotel residences built by BI Group Construction Holding on 15 hectares. The Fairmont Hotel, known around the world for its luxury hotels, the world’s most prestigious resorts and the world’s largest capitals, occupies 5 hectares of the hub. The fifth facility is the largest golf club in Asia, surrounded by villas, with an area of ​​38 hectares,” he added.

    He continued, “The next 4.9 hectares will be Ranyan Tree, consisting of 80 villas, and 3 hectares will be Rixos club prive. It is planned that the houses of the construction company “Bazis-A” will occupy 10 hectares, and the last 7 hectares will be served by the “Swissôtel Hotel”, located in the upper segment of the international hotel market. Undoubtedly, all these facilities need maintenance specialists. The demand for specialists in the field of tourism and hotels is very high. At least 3,000 specialists are needed to staff these tourist facilities.”

    In turn, Berik Bakytzhanovich Akhmetov noted that taking into account the prospects for the development of tourism in the region, a new faculty “Tourism and Languages” was opened at the university, where 114 students majoring in tourism and hospitality are trained. He noted that he will work hard to increase the number of applicants for these specialties, as well as for the development of tourism in Mangistau region.

    During the talks, the parties noted the need to strengthen and further develop cooperation in the field of tourism and services. As part of this interaction, Rixos Water World Aktau staff will teach a number of subjects in the new dual education program “Restaurant and Hotel Business” in the hotel and all the experience of students majoring in “Tourism” will be held in this hotel.

    It was also agreed that each year 10 high-achieving students will receive a special grant for international internships at Rixos hotels in the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Egypt, Croatia, Libya, Thailand and Cyprus.
